Will New Faces on Oakland City Council Change the Equation?

District 1, including Rockridge, will have a new councilmember for the first time in 16 years. West Oakland and the Fruitvale district will also be represented by fresh faces on the Oakland City Council.

When newly elected members of the Oakland City council are sworn in office in January, three of the eight councilmembers will be brand new: Dan Kalb from District 1 (Rockridge/North Oakland), Lynette Gibson-McElhaney from District 3 (West Oakland) and Noel Gallo from District 5 (Fruitvale).

Will this signal a change in the council's direction, or will it be "business as usual"? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
