Foodie Alert: Ramen Shop Opens Officially Today, Temescal Alley Celebrates First Friday

Plus Indian vada pav coming to Telegraph Avenue and what people are saying about Trappist Provisions.

Recent Rockridge and Temescal restaurant news:

Temescal Alley and Alley 49 promise great food from Dona Thomas and The Happy Crab (plus live music, an art installation and a new recycled goods shop, Walrus) from 6 to 9 tonight during the monthly First Friday event. See details at temescalfirstfriday.com.

The Ramen Shop at 5812 College Ave., Oakland, passed its final inspections Thursday and officially opens for business today, Carolyn Allberger reports on Eater. The photos with the article show several views of the new restaurant's interior, which Allberger says "seeks to replicate the feel of most ramen shops in Japan."

Juhu Beach Club will be dishing up vada pav — vegetarian fast food that originated in the Indian state of Maharasktra — at 5179 Telegraph Ave., Oakland (near 51st Street) starting in March 2013, according to Tablehopper.com.

Mixed reviews for the newly opened Trappist Provisions at at 6309 College Ave., Oakland — excellent potables, but not everyone loves the atmosphere. See what people are saying at Chowhound and Yelp.
