Sprouts & Shutters: Camera Shop Closes

Sarber's Cameras had been in Montclair for almost 50 years

After nearly a half-century in business, a family-owned camera shop has shuttered its doors.

Sarber's Cameras closed up shop last week in Montclair, the Oakland Tribune reported.

The shop had been at 1958 Mountain Blvd. since 1964. It first opened in Oakland in the 1920s.

Peter and Nancy Sarber bought the business in 1961 and moved it to Montclair three years later. The couple's son, David, has been running the store the past two decades.
