Would You Eat a Beer-Flavored Jelly Bean?

Jelly Belly has debuted its newest flavor: Draft Beer Flavor Jelly Beans.

Beer lovers are in for a sweet surprise thanks to a jelly bean the Jelly Belly Candy Company debuted in San Francisco over the weekend.

The Fairfield-based candy company unveiled what may be the world's first beer-flavored jelly bean that took three years in the making, according to a company statement.

The non-alcoholic Draft Beer Flavor Jelly Bean, which is inspired by a Hefeweizen flavor, debuted during the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco over the weekend.

“Usually the factory has a sweet and fruity aroma, but when we’re making this flavor it’s just like being in an ale house,” a company statement quoted Jeff Brown, vice president in charge of manufacturing for Jelly Belly Candy Company, as saying.

Those looking to liven up their palate can combine the beer-flavored jellybeans with other flavors to make a beer sangria, beer cider or Michelada, according to the blog "The Beeroness."
