Help Asked Finding Berkeley Man with Dementia

Berkeley police appealed this afternoon for public help in locating a missing 61-year-old Berkeley man with dementia, Monte Winterhalter, last seen near the Claremont Hotel at Domingo Road and Ashby Avenue.

Berkeley police issued an appeal this afternoon, Tuesday, for public help in locating a missing 61-year-old man who suffers from dementia.

The man, Monte Winterhalter, is white, 6-feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 185 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes, police said.

He was wearing a black jacket, orange long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes, when last seen about 8:00 a.m. near Ashby Avenue and Domingo Road, according to Berkeley police.

"He recently moved to Berkeley and is unfamiliar with the area," according to a police notice.

Anyone who has seen Winterhalter is asked to contact the Berkeley Police Department immediately by calling 911 or 510-981-5900. 

"Any information could assist us in locating Mr. Winterhalter," police said.
