Three People Detained in Connection With Casual Carpool Robbery

Several casual carpool riders were robbed at gunpoint in Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood this morning, Oakland police said.

The group was waiting for carpool rides around 9 a.m. near state Highway 24 near Claremont Avenue and Hudson Street when they were held up, police said.

The carpoolers gave up their electronic devices and other personal items, police said. Police were later able to detain three suspects in connection with the robbery.

The trio has not been identified. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Oakland police investigators at (510) 238-3326.
